Mrs Gemma L Owens
At Carriage Driving Community CIC, we believe employment pathways should be practical, inclusive and rooted in real-life experience. Through our partnership approach aligned with South Yorkshire’s Pathways to Work initiative, we are proud to offer meaningful opportunities that build skills, confidence and progression.
Our carriage driving programmes provide far more than time with horses. Participants develop transferable skills including communication, teamwork, responsibility, time management, problem solving and resilience. Working alongside equines in a structured and supportive environment encourages focus, emotional regulation and self-belief — qualities that are essential for employment and career progression.
We offer structured skills development, supported work experience opportunities and progression routes that reflect individual goals and abilities. For some, this may mean building confidence to re-enter the workplace. For others, it may lead to volunteering, qualifications, coaching support roles or employment within equestrian and community-based settings.
Our environment is inclusive and accessible. We support individuals with disabilities, neurodiversity and long-term health conditions, recognising that traditional employment routes do not work for everyone. Carriage driving offers a unique, hands-on pathway where individuals can thrive at their own pace while developing genuine workplace competencies.
Being based in South Yorkshire, we are proud to contribute to local employment growth and community wellbeing. Our approach combines rural skills, community connection and structured progression — creating real opportunities, not just activities.
Pathways to Work through carriage driving is about unlocking potential, restoring confidence and building futures — made in South Yorkshire, for South Yorkshire.
